B vitamins are a group of eight essential dietary micronutrients. They act synergistically at the cellular level and are essential for all aspects of brain function. Each vitamin in this group has its own characteristics, functions and health benefits. Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6 have an influence on energy, as well as on the body’s ability to metabolize nutrients. Vitamins B9 and B12 help, for instance, in the formation of red blood cells. Vitamin B12 also helps in the metabolism of energy in the body.
